About Radhika Airi
The Label Radhika Airi extracts its threads from fabrics of the past; the designer constantly unravels cultures for inspiration – from the domes of Mughal architecture to the grandeur of Rajputana, every little details is weaved into her garments. Her signature aesthetic can be easily derived from her restrained use of embroidery, that takes shape from architectural patterns of palaces and forts and yet are not overwhelming. While her creations instantly evoke a sense of nostalgia, her silhouettes induce a matured modernism that labels all her creations versatile and wearable.
A designer graduate of National Institute of Fashion Technology, New Delhi, Radhika Airi found herself constantly drawn to the cultural manifestations of foregone years.
Her formative phase as a design explorer was spent interning with designer Samant Chauhan, where her fascination for Rajputana Culture and its rich influences led her to define her charming sensibility. Further, as she worked with ace designer Ritu Beri, followed by a significant stint with the phenomenal Sahil Kochhar, she found a strong foothold in exploring rare techniques that challenge the conventional idea of Indian wear, whilst keeping culture as a definite point of reference in all her creative work.
The Radhika Airi Label is always at the threshold of old and new, cultural and liberal, and most importantly dramatic and delicate.
